Why I decided to blog

19 March 2014 – by Elena

I created Milknhoney Wedding to share my wedding planning experience and the knowledge of the two European destinations with the many English- and Russian speaking couples who want to get married in Southern France or in Switzerland.

I lived in many different countries including Russia, Italy, the UK, Puerto-Rico and others. This is why I know how important it is to have a person you can trust when it comes to organizing any event – especially such an important one as wedding.

When I moved to Geneva from London 4 years ago I barely spoke French and very quickly understood that if I don’t bring it to a decent level asap, my life here will be very difficult. Very. This was also when I realized that there are no wedding planners who would work exclusively with English- and Russian speaking couples. At best, I saw planners who would speak some English but their clients were mostly Swiss. I looked through dozens of wedding sites and found just a handful where I could switch the site language into English (never into Russian).

I’m fluent in French today but my initial experience in the country made me think of the many couples who would have to face many difficulties if they decided to organize their big day in Switzerland or in Côte d’Azur. Since I know how hard it is to find a local point of contact who’d speak your language, I decided to become one myself.

Today, having helped several couples find their way through the language barrier and the lack of local knowledge, I could not be happier having filled in that gap. To find out more about the range of services I offer, please get in touch with me. I would be delighted to assist you in organizing your special day.

Wedding venues and suppliers you will see on the pages of my blog have all been carefully selected & visited by me personally. Before I post information about a venue or a vendor on the blog I want to make sure that it meets the highest standards of quality and hospitality – the two elements that are indispensable at any event. I am the first and the strictest judge when it comes to choosing a wedding venue or a service supplier.

I will never recommend a venue or a service provider if I am not sure I’d use them for my own wedding. And I take my own wedding v-e-r-y seriously!
